Week 6

This week, we continued learning about Oswald and the letter Oo.  Now we can practice words with both /k/ and /o/ in the beginning.  We are even starting to learn how to blend letters together like /o//c/ and /c//o/.  We also love learning more about Oswald's Odd Animals, like the ostrich, otter, and ocelot!

This Friday, for FFF, we read the story Mouse Paint.  In the story, three mice, each with one color of paint, work together to create more colors.  We wanted to make pumpkins, but didn't have any orange paint!  So we had to use our fingers and both red and yellow paint to create our own.  We are so excited to hang our pumpkins on the board in October!

Week 5

This week we started a new letter and met a new friend named Oswald to help us learn about the letter Oo!  We sang our O Song and read a lot of books about this letter.  We even made our own book of Oswald's Odd Animals.

This Friday, for FFF, we celebrated apples!  We sang about apples and read fun books about apples.  We also listened to a story about Jesse Bear looking for a house with no windows, no doors, a chimney, and a star in the middle.  Turns out it was our own red apple!  We loved seeing the stars inside each apple.

After learning so much about apples, we didn't know which kind would be our favorite.  So, we had to taste a yellow, green, and red apple to make our decision!  We taste tested each one, then picked our favorite to hang on the apple graph in our classroom.  Yellow was the class favorite!  We ended our day by singing a song and illustrating a poem called The Apple Tree

Week 4

This Friday, for FFF, it was an ABC Day in Kindergarten!  We celebrated the book Chicka Chicka Boom Boom.  First, we read the story and listened to the fun song!  We loved finding our favorite letters Cc and Oo in the song. :)
Then it was our turn to make our own Boom Boom Trees.  We had to cut, glue, and spell our name going up the coconut tree!

To end the Chicka Chicka Boom Boom celebration, we made some edible trees  of our own.  After we spelled our names going up the tree with Alphabit cereal, we got to eat our yummy coconut trees!

Week 3

Last FFF, we talked all about a big yellow bus!  We started out by reading our Wheels on the Bus poem and singing our song for our poetry notebook.  We also read the story The Wheels on the Bus and talked about bus rules.
We finished the fun with making and decorating our own buses!  They look so great hanging outside of our classroom. :)

This week, we also finished talking about the letter Cc.  We had some cookies with Cass, learned a cookie poem, and made our own cookies look like the letter C.

Lastly, to end our week of the letter Cc, we read If You Give a Cat a Cupcake.  We made our own cupcakes and even put icing on them (with shaving cream and glue!)
